Pay phones and long distance calling
Pay phones can be found around the city which accept change and phone cards, which can be bought at post offices, tobacconists' and grocery stores. There are many different phone cards available, and many companies allow you to make cheap long-distance calls.
International call centres and internet cafés
International call-centres and internet points can also offer cheap rates abroad, and usually also have computers available with Skype, Google Talk and other VoIP and instant messaging services available. More and more of these centres are opening around the city centre; here  a list available at the time of writing.

Bologna Municipality, supported by private partners, offers for its telematics community a new service: Iperbole Wireless, is a new way to use internet, more simply and everywhere.The project has been realized by supporting of G. Marconi S.p.A. Laboratories, technical partner of Bologna Municipality for information and communication technologies (ICT). The content of service are made in collaboration of University of Bologna.

WHO

-Users already subscribed to the Iperbole Civic Network: they can take part in the Iperbole Wireless experimentation simply by using the same access codes enabling them to enter the Civic Network, at the url: http://www.comune.bologna.it/iperboliani/abilitazione_wifi.php
-Users of the Bologna University (students, teachers, technical-administrative staff).
-Employees of Bologna Municipality.
-In some areas (see the map) access is permitted by anyone with an Italian mobile phone number. You only have to put your mobile number into the field of web page access to receive a SMS with a temporary password for navigation.

WHEN

In the outdoor areas you can access the Iperbole Wireless every day (24 h ). In the covered areas you are ready to surf in the opening hours of facilities offering the service. In any case the service is not guaranteed during the suspension necessary for preventive maintenance, ordinary and extraordinary technological devices which offer telematics services.

HOW

The user has at his disposal a three hours access credit every day, and he can spend it once or in different sessions: for example you can use Iperbole Wireless for successive 3 hours or for 3 time for only 1 hour.
