We suggest that half of the available time (at least one full day and three half days) should be spent in lessons at the school of each country, as a way of getting to know the students and their own scholastic environment.

The integration of foreign students in the classes of the host school is most effective when done in small groups, giving priority to practical, technology, art, sport and language lessons.

The cultural exchange program, one week in length, usually consists of the following:

 Guided tour of Bologna's historical center
 Half-day visits to the following places:
      City museums
      University museums
      The city theatre
      San Luca's Basilica
      Art gallery
 A visit to one of the many factories and artisan workshops in the area
 A day trip to a city of particular cultural interest (for example Ravenna, Florence, Venice, Verona)
 A half-day excursion to a place near Bologna, of interest for its historical significance or for its landscape and scenery (for example Dozza Castle, the archaeological ruins of Marzabotto or Monteveglio Abbey).

Thanks to its experience in school exchanges, the Youth Office can offer tools to the teachers involved to enhance the visits and encourage the pupils to bond and participate in activities together. These include games related to the city, an active itinerary, journals for thoughts and analysis, and the opportunity to write articles for our online exchange website, Giramondo.

Finally, we suggest you to have a look at the different videos realized by Codec tv (the web tv of the Youth Office in Bologna), called Uno sguardo su Bologna, which explains Bologna and which are precious tools to better know this city. Don't waste your time and discover Bologna with us!
