CELI's test - Italian test for the residence permit

CELI (Certificates for migrant people in Italy) are certificates, that attest the knowledge of the Italian language and, according to the new law, replace the Italian test, required by the prefecture for the issue of the residence permit.  CELI are released by the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, in accordance with the instructions of the Council of Europe, set out in the Common European Framework of Reference; exams can also be taken by the Imola's CPIA, that will send the tests to the University for the correction and issue of certificates.
The certificate issued following an exam, thet tests the knowledge of the language in the four basic skills (listening, reading, writig, speaking) and that simulates reaistic linguistic activities of everyday life. The exams lasts about an hour and a half and consists of oral, written and listening tests.

There are three levels of certification:

CELI Impact i - A1
CELI 1 i - A2
CELI 2 i - B1

·        In the case of the levels A1 and A2 the certification will contain the wording POSITIVE or NEGATIVE. For the next level, instead, the result is expressed by the letters A (excellent), B (good), C (sufficient), D and E (inadequate).
